Passing

While passing

by a river

I saw blood draining from my chest

darkly

deep

and red

Grayness closes in 'round the edges

and I ponder why he turned on me

money

lust

or vengence

Acrid smoke fades

and I'm left with the scent of green water

fishy

foriegn

and tainted

Warmth slips away

leaving cool

stiff

heft

The world grows impossibly small

leaving only the rippling of the water

whose rythym carries me away
