The Mysterious House
#This story may be creepy; please consider before reading.
I opened my eyes and found myself lying face-flat in front of an abandoned house. Funny, I don’t remember coming to this place before, I thought, but the curiosity got the better of me. I stepped forward and entered the house, excited at the same time scared to what I would discover.
The moment I entered the house, the door slammed behind me, jolting me. I ingnored it and continued looking around the house. The house was dark and dusty, and the smell of rotting wood filled the air. The lights would not turn on, and the floor was missing some tiles. I switched on my cellphone torch so I could get a clearer view. As I was making my way to the nearest window, I heard a soft thud, followed by a crash. Someone was here, and he was upstairs.
“I-is there anyone there?′ I called out.
Silence.
Confused, I wandered around until I found the stairs, and made my way upstairs. The floor screamed at my weight, and finally I reached the first floor. There were several rooms upstairs; many had their doorknobs missing. I cautiously made my way to the closest room and saw a glimmering substance on the floor. It was blood. I nervously turned the doorknob and the door creaked. I shined my cellphone torch into the room, and to my horror, saw a figure standing over anothe figure, holding a knife...
My mind went blank. Without knowing what I was doing, I zipped down the stairs, hastily pulled the door open and flung myself outside. The bright sunlight dawned upon me, and I was relieved to be safely outside. I quickly ran as far as possible from the house, and telephoned the police.
“Hello, police? I think I saw a murder in house number 13, Japeldos Street,“I said.
“Alright, we’ll be on our way,“replied the police.
Five minutes later, the cops were outside the house, questioning me and inspecting the area. They returned, telling me to follow them inside. I shivered and followed them, going to the room where it all happened. The area was covered in tape staying ‘CRIME SCENE’, and the blood was still there. A chill ran down my spine when I saw a corpse of a person who had slash marks on it. I didn’t want to see more so I left the area, returning to my house. I had learnt a valuable lesson to never explore abandoned places.
