Demons

I would tell you their complete names,

but that gives them more power,

did you know that?

Acknowledging the existence of them

only makes them stronger.

But there are five

that I have dealt with.

Well, technically four.

But the fifth one is there,

in the shadows.

I believe he is the leader of them.

We call each of them

by the first letter of their name.

The first four come in pairs,

two and two.

But the first pair is not an exact “twin”,

per se, as the first seems to be the leader,

but only on the surface, as I still think

that the last one is the true leader.

The first one is known as S,

the second, as G.

S is an odd creature.

He has shown himself

as the form of a white and purple rabbit-like creature,

with empty black eye sockets,

needle-like teeth,

and three lines on each cheek.

The lines are scars, of some sort.

I do not know what caused them.

But this form is not the first he presented as.

The usual, a mass of black robes,

with a blank white mask,

except for a single line of a smile.

That was the first thing I saw,

in the hallway, my hallway.

He does not speak.

He writes, through me.

But only that one time.

I never let it happen again.

Before direct contact, he tried something else.

He gave us a power that we should not have.

Wishes.

Yes, I know.

Cliche.

But it was so strange,

and as much as I

was connected to the power of it,

I could not actually ask for wishes myself.

The wishes were for Thomas, and him alone.

His wish to meet someone

that would care for him

more than anyone else in the world

was how we met.

There's no other way to describe it.

He gave me a connection with Thomas, however,

like some kind of clairsentience,

but in the present.

We were linked, I could reach out

and touch the air, and feel as if he were there

and he would feel me.

It was as if the true meaning of that wish

was to take a long distance relationship

and take the distance out of it.

Thomas lives on the other side of the country.

But it felt as if he was right there with me,

all with the simple opening of a door

a single, blue and purple striped door

in our minds.

We both saw it, open while we were connected,

closed when we were not.

Thomas could open it easier than I could.

It was his wish after all.

I suspect that was the first attempt S made

at getting us to trust him, before the others showed up too.

At least, for me.

They were there for Thomas already.

But I suppose they thought

they could use me to get to him,

and now, they are really only after me.

S is the most common appearance, aside from maybe G.

He shares the cloaked,

shadowy appearance with G,

as well as the feeling.

The tingling of anxiety,

for seemingly no reason,

whenever he is near.

S has three places in my house,

as far as I know.

Always by windows.

and G is always opposite him,

in another corner.

G also makes no sound, but only emits static.

He tends to cause interference

when I am on the phone,

which, might I add, is a lot.

Every time they are around,

technology doesn't ever seem to work,

not as perfectly as it should.

It is where G's name comes from after all.

Those are the two that I would consider

to be the "scarier" of the main four.

(They are all scary to some amount,

but at least the next two are more tolerable.)

The second pair are known as R and L.

Both of them get their name from a form of candy,

R being the same kind as Twizzlers, red,

and L being the black form of the same candy.

They are the most human looking, as well.

They each seem to be mimicking

the appearance of a couple friends

that are involved in this whole ordeal.

L mimics Thomas

(the one I mentioned earlier),

(actually, this whole mess is technically his fault, but nevermind that.)

and R mimics Kay.

They look to be twins,

though Thomas and Kay are not related in real life.

Their left eye is the key to knowing if they are around.

I know that feeling pain behind one's eyes

is not immediately apparent of anything wrong,

but a dull, pulsing pain behind my left eye

is all I need to know for them.

I also see edges of red when I close my eyes,

if R happens to be messing with me, rather than L.

They seem to only want to taunt me,

but are more willing to approach me in my mindscape.

S and G are always at a distance,

though G will get much closer.

I have actually fought with L.

(yes, I mean "physically", in my mindscape)

It was in the game, the "ritual",

as we jokingly called it,

in a different hall than normal,

or perhaps farther down the hall,

The door was on the right, metallic, gold

open the tiniest bit,

I knew she was inside

the moment I approached it.

Inside the room was a library,

shelves filled to the ceiling with books.

The shelves were wood, mahogany, I believe,

the floors, unlike the hall's dark stone floors,

were tiled, black and white, in a checkered pattern

the walls were the same victorian-era pattern,

slightly blueish grey, ripped and faded in various places.

She was waiting on the other side of the room.

It was actually the first time I ever saw her, fully.

She had long black hair, like Thomas used to,

her one normal eye was brown,

and she wore a green hoodie,

with a heart stitched onto the front.

She was the only one to attack,

but I knew R was waiting there too.

I don't know what happened to her after that fight.

I didn't see her for several weeks,

maybe even a couple months.

She returned, partnered with G, this time

to get back at me again,

in the real world, this time.

Somewhat.

I had been in a call with Thomas at the time,

and for an uncomfortably long time, we heard static,

and even mechanical beeping, clanging,

and distorted, robotic, dare I say, vocals.

We were dicussing the noises

when Thomas went quiet

for longer than he normally would.

When he spoke again,

it was his voice,

but not him.

I had not known L was capable of possession,

but the way Thomas began to speak to me,

that was not the friend I knew.

She even acknowledged it,

though I don't know

if she intended to do so or not.

That was really the last time I saw her for months,

but of course,

S and G mostly stuck around during that time.

And all this time,

I have felt the last one, F, in the background,

waiting for us.

As a day to day presence,

they are not much of a threat to me,

but it is in my dreams,

in the game,

where they know they have more power,

I am not so sure.

Yet, I have improved a lot

since the last time I played the game,

in my ability to control my mindscape,

and my ability to protect myself from their manipulation.

I have not tried the game again recently,

but I feel the only way to deal with them

might be to try it again.

I need to reclaim my mindscape as my own.

But there's a certain five demons standing in the way.
