chapter 1
Sydney always had a troubled past. Her mother died when she was five in a car crash. Her father the same way when Sydney was 9. In fact, numerous people have died due to car crashes in Sydney’s life, but the most troubling fact is that she was always in the car. She would be found with a couple of scratches on her by police. They had a couple of names for at the station; the cursed one or the lucky one. It just depended on who you asked.
She was sent to live with her grandparents who were the last of her family left to take her in. they died in a crash when she was 13 after mentally abusing her for a year. When the crash happened, Sydney fled before anyone could know she was there. She somehow felt responsible since she thought they deserved it. Her friend had told her of an abandoned building that was haunted. Sydney thought it would be the perfect place to go. And that is where her true story begins.
As the golden haired- golden eyed girl approached the building she heard what sounded like hushed voices coming from inside. She looked through the busted-out windows and missing doors and saw no one. As she stepped through the doorway she was startled to see that the walls were somehow not crumbling anymore but was in fact freshly painted. She jumped back in surprise. When she was back outside, she saw a crumbling building again. When she stepped inside again the walls changed again and a red-haired girl stood in front of her.
“Can you see me?” questioned the girl.
“Y-yes. Where am I? I-I thought this place was a-abandoned.” Sydney managed to stutter out.
“Follow me. I have someone who can explain.” As Sydney hesitated but then followed the red-haired stranger she saw eyes peering at her through a couple doorway. Suddenly the girl stopped and told Sydney to stay put as she walked into a dark looking room. Inside she heard a man speak.
“Amber did you get rid of the human without giving away too much this time.”
“Sir it wasn’t a human. She saw everything without me having to show her.”
“That can’t be possible! There haven’t been any signs to suggest that she even landed here and survived. Where is she?” the man yelled at Amber as if it was her fault.
The door opened, and Amber grabbed her arm and pulled her inside. The man looked her over stopping at her eyes. Then his eyes filled with recognition as he realized who she was.
“Ha! You expect me to believe that the cursed child is the last one. The key to human survival you think is her!” the man was practically laughing out loud. “If you believe it to be true I will test her. Go back to your room and say absolutely nothing about this.”
Amber did as she was told. As she left Sydney’s mind thought of nothing but the hatred she had towards the man sitting behind the desk. He had made a joke of her and the girl named Amber. A noise interrupted her thoughts. She quickly looked up in time to see something flying at her. She felt it hit her and instantly felt pain seer through her. She couldn’t take the pain as it overwhelmed her and she passed out. The object fell to the floor.
