Things we say
Some things we say because we have to
Some things we say because we feel,
And sometimes saying what we mean to
Is not the same as being real.
Some things we say when we are hurt
Some things we whisper when in pain
And sometimes we discard those words,
Claiming they were said in vain.
Some things we say when we are joyful
Some things we say when we’re depressed
But telling the difference is impossible -
Which words are true or which are best.
Some things we say for hurting people
Some things we say for getting praise
Doesn’t matter if we’re good or evil -
We know that words are just a phase.
We know that words can hurt or kill
We know some things we say are wrong
We also know how words can make us feel
How fragile are we, while seeming strong.
Some things we say because we’re proud
Some things we say when insecure
Some things we fail to say out loud
When we are fearful or unsure...
If all the words were felt and chosen
And said at the right time and place,
Would people be less sad and broken
Would there be no more human race?
