Complete Despair

If I were to drown

I'd go into a frenzy

Twisting and turning

arms flailing with envy

of the people up there

breathing in the air

sipping on their soda

laughing unaware

of my whole body, my entirety

slowly drifting away.

I can hear the mumbles

of everyone onshore

Playing, splashing,

my muscles are getting sore

the sun is beaming through the water

as I look up with one last hope

now it's getting silent

how will my family cope?

I know this is the end

and so I close my eyes

my mind shuts off

there are no more thoughts

I feel the water in my lungs rise

Down I go into an abyss

of darkness

I am

sinking.
