darkness

I'm falling

Deeper and deeper down.

The light fades

As I plunge into the darkness.

My body is lifeless

My limbs can no longer stay afloat.

My mind is numb.

I blame the frigid waters,

The shock of it all.

But I know the truth.

My mind is tired.

I know how to kick my legs

To force myself to break through the surface of the water.

But still

I don't move.
