I shouldn’t be doing this...
I am one human among BILLIONS on this planet we call Earth. We humans, as a majority, think we OWN this planet, and it's ours to do with as we please. I still have hope, as many in the minority do, that this will change and those of us who seek harmony and symbiosis with our planet, will one day be the majority. Until then though, you'll see a lot of profiteering greed. You see, since the dawn of what we call "Civilization" we humans have used this "money" system which has become a form of enslavement to the point so many humans think they can't, or don't want to even try to live without it.
Money isn't exactly the root of our evil, but the way we covet it and use it as a means of power is. It's like an infection really, contagious in the way most of us can't help but think our lives would be a little bit better if we had more money. I believe, though, we only think that way because we haven't seen a better option work on a big scale like the one weighted by our BILLIONS.
So while some of us spend hundreds of millions of our various forms of money on entertainment and whimsy, there are hundreds of millions struggling for the most basic of things.. like water. Water that some of our humans have decided they own like the land on this planet, and they bottle it to sell it for more money. Leaving the locals around that water source, to maintain water restrictions or flat-out struggle to find water that isn't "owned" at all.
There's also the issue of our food. The sustenance that keeps us alive and healthy, which is also long on the way to being "owned." We created this "patent" system which is tied to our money system. If a human or company some humans own and manage "patent" something, they usually get a portion of profits that come from that. Humans in all our glory, decided to start genetically changing different foods (publicized as the means to make hardier plants and animals) for the purpose of being able to "patent" those bits and "own" the rights to that food production. Where this has become most problematic for other humans, is that we STILL don't fully understand the long-term effects on us, as humans consuming these modified organisms.
How are we so blind to all of this? Well, most of the humans in the "civilized" world are glued to their technology. Silly games on this electronic web of information, software and programming. Humans of all ages spend HOURS playing with digital fishtanks filled with unrealistic fish that don't die, digital dolls in digital worlds which seem further and further away from any form of realism. HOURS watching sports and spending millions on their memorabilia. Fictional shows touch on these topics but too few can get past the fiction to see the reality mirrored within. We Humans are a distracted bunch.
... and I think I've said too much.
