Laying next to you

The simplest kind of peace

because their fingers are weaven together

Their pulses beat together

As two halves of the same whole

and their problems are locked outside the bedroom door

Laying below their bodies

Is their two dogs and lucky-to-be-alive hamster

still in his protective ball

All are asleep

and one dog runs in place as he dream

He’s running, but going nowhere

because why would he

Everything is perfect

And she almost doesn't want to ever fall asleep

because she knows when she wakes

She’ve have to go
