She and He
(she)
And as trees pass my vision
The glaring sun covers and uncovers my sight
Into blue patterns,
Frightful and expected.
But the tormenting is painful,
The distraction overbearing.
(he)
And as she walks away
Her feet hitting grey
Her hair flying, soaring,
And glowing with such ambition,
Slows to a halt.
So I lust not in her shapes and edges
But in the way she is one with the light
The way her aura is overbearing,
Encapsulating me entirely
(she)
So I stop moving and let the sun remain,
Doing its dues and
Encapsulating me entirely
I remember the words that were spoken
The pleads and denials and the way the sun hit them
The way it disguised such an ugly thing
I wonder why light can be so deceiving
And maybe if darkness is feared
Because it is honest
And bare
(he)
I remember her presence
Our touching shadows
My envious skin
How deceived I felt then by such a pretty thing
And now I yearn for her closeness
Even in the face of deception
For even that pain is preferable to my current state
Hit by the sun, I am scorched, and dark
And bare
(she)
But I walk just the same
As I did my whole life
Leaving the boy who once knew no hurt
Who held me so softly
Even when my body stung
Leaving the superficial light and the all-knowing darkness
My feet hitting grey
The color of my heart
(he)
But I stand just the same
As I did my whole life
Praying with my all she’ll return
My body longing for her sting
My mouth crying for her sweet sorrow
Her scorching, everlasting glow
The tormenting may be painful
The sun a superficial light
But it’s backdrop is blue
The color of my heart
