I called you candy,

Said you were sweet.

You were my pretty treat.

I said I liked you

Because you were carefree,

And always so good to me.

Now I’m left with just my salt

I realize it’s all my fault

For never seeing you truly.

You were my candy

And I was a waste.

Because even though I liked your sweetness,

I didn’t stay for the aftertaste.
