I lied.
"James, what's wrong? You've been acting strange lately. Is everything alright?"
"Yes, I mean no. I don't know. I'm falling," I huffed.
"What do you mean?" She asked looking at me with those caring eyes of hers, looking genuinely worried.
"I'm falling like your stupid stars!"
"Stars are not stupid, they're-"
"For you."
"What?"
"I'm falling for you, like your stupid stars. They fall way too fast with no hope of anyone catching them and that's exactly how I feel. It's like I don't even have time to realise just how much I'm falling for you. It's all way too fast, way too real and way too scary all at the same time.Yet it's the most beautiful thing I've ever experienced. I'm falling like the stars..."
" Falling in love," she finished for me.
"Yeah," I breathed. She sat on the grass next to me and started looking at the star filled sky. I watched her until she looked at me and smiled. I sat next to her and looked at the stars too.
"Remember when I told you there's nothing I love more than staring at the stars?"
"Yeah."
"I lied," she said in a whisper. I looked at her waiting for her to continue. "I love you James Kingsley, more than all the stars in the sky."
I stared at her as my brain tried to process exactly what she said and what she meant. She smiled and held out her hand. I took it and I never let go.
