Optimism of the Sun Shining Flower

The optimistic head sways high,

held up in a big bright blue sky.

It’s golden mane reflects the sun,

the middle shows of all its won.

The darkened kernels oh so many,

shine alike a golden penny.

A fuzzy stem holds up this bloom,

until the poor thing meets its doom.

Now you see its come to me,

for it has been plucked off with glee,

to ride behind my ear for now,

and later it will be set down.
