TEMPTATION
# poetry
Desire, urge, itch, lure, pull, enticement... Do these feel familiar?
Remember when you felt that way
It was only the other day
Usually it comes and goes away
That feeling
That thing
That takes control of your mind
Takes over your heart
Drains your soul
Your temptation
"Go do it it says
Just a little
It won't kill you
Just a small potion"
You won't die
It whispers.
You know what comes after
The temptation will alter
To the point you can't utter... You see.
It sinks your heart
It gives pressure to your head
Your soul feels ripped off
Then the voice comes back
"I didn't know it would hurt you
I didn't know it would dampen you
But...
Let's try it next time
I promise it won't hurt you
Next time... Next time..."
Next time goes and comes
Meanwhile temptation smirks
As its next move it plans
It can never get enough
It's controlled by greed, you see.
Deception being its main trait
But no one will take
For an excuse it's attribute
Or it's control over you
It's ypu people will blame
They'll see you as lame
For your strength to fail
Temptation, they say
Is like a demon trying to slay
Through your soul as you lay
In the middle of the night in bed awake
Your soul is imprisoned
In a dungeon darkened
Only you can free it
And give it that magical feeling
Of sunshine with no darkness ever hovering around it
It will no longer be forced to be temptation's mistress.
