The Strangest Love Of All - The Sequel - Part Five
Saturday morning saw an overcast day which wasn’t anything new for the Bay area.
Bobby, started making preparations for his soon to be travels. Taking a backpack, he filled it with one change of clothing, pens, notebooks, a digital camera, some historical information in case people on Alpha-Earth One were curious, and—only because of his mom, he put his cell phone inside as well.
Then he walked over to Zach.
“Old buddy, this is where we part company.”
Taking Zach out of his cage, he went outside and walked about thirty feet where a small clump of bushes backgrounded by trees sat.
Kneeling down he said, “I wish I could do more for you Zach, but the best I can do is give you your freedom.”
Releasing his hands, Zach scampered to the ground and stood still for a moment and looked up at Bobby, then turned and ran into the dark caverns of the bushes. Standing, Bobby returned to his lab, grabbed his backpack, put it on, and then set the timer for forty-five seconds before it would activate, giving him plenty of time to get inside the Portal.
With a tingling sensation coursing through him, he entered the Portal and closed the door behind him. Standing there waiting in what he felt was like forever moment, and sweat began to roll down the sides of his face.
The lights overhead started flashing, he could hear the whirring sound in his ears growing louder and louder and then the noise stopped.
He was gone.
