A Start

Okay all you wonderful writers and readers, I have been slowly writing a book over the past year or so, and I have more than half of it written. I'm trying to push myself to complete it, but I keep feeding the doubt gods. I need advise/help/encouragement, so I'm asking anyone who'd be willing to check out my first (still pretty rough) chapter. Typically when sending manuscripts to a literary agent for review, they'll ask for the first 10 pages or the first chapter to see if it's something that sparks interest, which is why I'm asking if anyone would like to read my first chapter. I want to see if it is something that hooks readers. If it doesn't, then I have a better understanding of what needs to be editted/fixed/refined in order to do so.
