A simple nudge of support?

Is it too much to ask?

For you to be proud of me just once?

Apparently it is,

Because my being proud of my accomplishments,

Somehow makes me selfish.

Because me trying to do the best I can,

Somehow makes me self-centered.

Because my standing up for my sister,

Somehow means I'm trying to be her mother.

Because making a valid statement,

Somehow means I'm running my mouth.

Because when I try to talk about my feelings,

Somehow means I'm ungreatful.

Because me trying to tell you about my day,

Somehow means I think it's only all about me.

So, again I ask,

Is it too much to ask?

A simple smile of encouragment?

Is it too much to ask,

For a day where the way I breathe isn't criticized?

Is it too much to FREAKING ask?
