She stared at the ceiling, picturing herself on the top of the great cathedral overlooking a city called Paris, deep in a diamond mine in a place called Africa, or maybe pursuing giant sea mammals on a ship on an ocean called the Pacific. Too bad places like that only existed in words, written on old pages, in books she wasn’t supposed to know existed.
