The Holiday Dinner from Hell

As best as we are able

A COVID-19 watch over all

While gathered around the table

The aromas of these holidays

Permeate the infectious air

Yet the tensions in the room

Seems impossible to bear

Death looms large here

Over this splendid table of gloom

Where pandemic thoughts of course

Fill all minds in this room

No one here is thankful

Or expects to remain alive

They’ve rolled the dice on a gamble

With odds against that they’ll survive

Who will be the next to go?

It’s become a familiar holiday story

Intubating the turkey next to you

A shortcut trip to purgatory

This won’t be the viruses final call

But take a seat if you are still able

This might however be your final Fall
