Chapter 5: Junior is Born
And the happy family of three will welcome another family member. I remembered, it was my 29th birthday then, and I asked myself if that was the God’s birthday gift to me.
And I realized, how would I tell Carlos of this wonderful news? I had to step up my game, so I left a note at the door, telling him that he’s a daddy! Fortunately, Carlos wasn’t much surprised, but he did exclaimed, knowing that another baby is coming.
Everyone gets excited again, and there is now a sparking debate whether we will have two girls, or one boy and one girl. It was soon revealed that the baby was a boy, and we didn’t hesitate to name the baby after Carlos.
As the days go by, my excitement grows. The weather is getting colder, and it was a normal morning on November 22, when I felt the baby coming out. Fortunately, it was a Saturday then, or else, I would rely on my neighbor’s help to bring me to the hospital. Time flies so fast, and soon, I was giving birth to him. At 10:32 P.M., Carlos, Jr., had been born into this world.
My parents were the first visitors yet again, as they can’t wait to see their first grandson. Soon, our neighbors, then our officemates came. However, Carlos’ parents didn’t come until we had arrived at home, as they had some urgent concerns to fix back in Pagudpud. Soon enough, we celebrated Christmas, with Junior in my hands.
And the family of three became four. Joy in the house multiplied, but taking care of two children is a hard task. Fortunately, both kids have good manners, and it took off a burden for me and Carlos. Life in the house didn’t change that much, and Junior also sleeps in the night, contrary to Catherine’s day sleeping.
Like his sister Catherine, he was a quick learner. My children had spent lots of time watching educational shows. Sometimes, Catherine grudges when I seemed to care more for Junior, but I don’t mind. The graham cake business continues, and in due time, Junior may help his sister and mother make them.
Time passed, and me and Carlos decided that two children is enough. Besides, a boy and a girl would be perfect for a family picture.
