Dear Lord
Why with every passing year, we dig our grave one step deep?
Is technology for the sane or for the creep?
Why do we find annihilation more appealing than life?
Why do the troubled past look more comfortable than certain lies?
Why does every generation think that they had the best childhood?
What’s it with everyone’s mood?
What were the best times on earth?
Why do we exhaust ourselves to death?
Is all of this up to nothing?
Are you even listening?
Will you say something before I lose my faith?
Can anyone really be a saint?
Are you in that flute, because it sounds surreal?
Are you in that Yogi, along the sacred burial?
Were you in that Nei paruppu sadham?
Because that taste! I couldn’t fathom;
Are you sitting next to me, laughing at this inception?
Or will you be reading this without my concern?
Why is it when life can be explained, you can’t be?
Why does everything have a source but we can’t see?
Why at the edge of Higgs-boson discovery, scientists can’t find further?
Or that they named it ‘God particle’ with no bother?
Wasn’t there an atheist in that team?
Or is it something we have in our gene?
Why sunshine on leaves remind me of you?
Why does every stream sound anew?
Why do I control my anger when I am about to burst?
You have a remote switch, I trust?
Why do I feel pity, in a world that eats you alive?
Why do I feel remorse, for an unkind man who’ll never revive?
Why some things happen, when it ends fatal?
Should I have hope or be in dismal?
Why does the mind not remember the love but the hurt?
What should I do when people forget?
Will you hold my hand when I walk through the dark?
Or give a sign when I’m about to fall apart?
Will you stop my injury from happening?
Will you heal the soul that’s crushing?
Is everything a coincidence or miracle?
Is enlightenment the only key to break the circle?
Do I have time in my clock?
Or will I suffer again with my flock?
Will you lead me to heaven?
Can I bring a plus one?
Where do you draw the line?
Is it when we’re untouchable or when we aren’t fine?
What about when we talk a dirty word or flirt,
How do I calm you when you’re upset?
I am a mere human, I might make a mistake,
Will you change my horrible fate?
Lord, it hurts to kill that mosquito,
If I tell my mom, she would think that I’ve lost my mind too;
It hurt when that plant died,
When that bird got tangled and cried;
When I couldn’t donate money,
When that restless lady is always in a hurry;
When I see a kid at work,
When the slaughter chickens lurk;
When drunken men sleep on streets,
When the ocean is polluted with excretes;
When the corals turn white,
When the poles melt at sight;
When the black smoke fills the air,
When they introduce a new disease from despair;
When at Seventy, you feel unachieved,
When at death bed you aren’t grieved;
Are you crying too or laughing at this misery?
Or do you think ‘whatever it is, it sure is funny’?
Come down for a minute, we could really use your help,
Let us start over; how do we make it up?
