December Sun

under winter sky

in barren field

I am torn flesh

of consequence

lain bitter

and numb

winter’s child;

the fruit bore

from anguish,

bruised,

yearning

the vestiges

of sun

glory to

its fleeting cruelty

glory be

thy jagged halo
