Superpowers

I wish I had superpowers,

mind reading or teleportation.

I wish I could fly,

or shoot lasers from my eyes--

Nevermind,

I don't like Superman.

I wish I could be a hero,

I wish I could move things with my mind,

a prodigy, a superhero, maybe even a supervillain.

I don't care what title I have,

I just want to be more.

More than mortal.

I have the alter-ego thing down,

and I have the tragic backstory.

I'm the bullied underdog,

ready to rise above,

if I only get a chance.

I could be powerful,

If I only had a chance.

I wish I could have superpowers,

Pyromancy, water manipulation,

anything at all.

I could turn into the Hulk,

or join the army and get an injection.

I could train with the greats,

learn dark arts.

I could be anything

if I had a simple chance.

I wish I had superpowers.

Maybe that's why I write.

All the people I want to be,

all the things I want to have.

I'd brave any universe,

break any timeline,

summon any monster,

fight any crime

just to have a superpower.
