I saw a boy
I saw a boy who never hit
sweared an oath, threw a fit
held no grudge or regret
saw the good in all he met
would pay his way, earn his dues
was always up and never blue
I saw him among marble slabs
amongst those laid for all the lads
their place beneath graying trees
under autumn’s discarded dying leaves
here their days now held in time
and forever in their youthful prime
I saw this boy who never hit
quick to smile, a gentle wit
he stood tall when others fell
left his hopes to battle hell
I see him in my thoughts today
perfect forever in every way
