To Wait
As you see from the title, the people in it are decent. Here goes:
Suspense & wondering; probing & pondering,
What will it all boil down to?
Those quiet moments that we had been squandering,
Savoring; Were they untrue?
That bubbling sensation has cleared off to cool blue.
Have all our dreams been in vain?
Where fire had been raging, now there is morning dew.
Why must such new love bring pain?
But dew isn’t comparable to wet ashes.
Cool blue is better than black.
A warm smile is almost a flame when it flashes.
It is not strength that we lack.
For we’ve got to be strong to survive ’til the day,
How I hope that it hurries,
When into your arms I’ll be flying to stay
For a time to cease worries.
Let me try to explain why this silence must be,
Though gloom it surely will bring.
Our promises hold. this dark cloud will lift; you'll see
That to wait was a blessing.
