The Nerd and The Button
A little boy with dark brown hair cried quietly on his bed. He had a very bad day at school and was being teased again. He was really upset when he got home and he started to say bad things about himself..but then he remembered what he found that morming and stopped crying. He turned on his back as the last of his tears rolled down his cheeks.
The eleven year old put his hand in his pocket and pulled out the small blue button. He hadn’t touched it since he put in his pocket before school.
Roger had no idea what it would do but he decided to see what would happen. He didn’t really think before he pressed the button and when he did, he felt his body become lighter and he started to float. Roger gasped in shock as he was above his bed slowly moving up towards the ceiling of the room he shared with his twin sister, Riley. But since Riley had softball practice that day, she wasn’t home.
Roger’s back hit the ceiling and Roger pressed the button again. Roger started to float back down to his bed and he sat on his bed. Roger was amazed by the button he had.
Roger laid back down and put the bottom back in his pocket. He felt better.
Then the door opened and Roger’s flinched as his eyes darted to the door. His oldest sister, Rhea, came in and walked over to him. “Hey, Roger.” She smiled and he hoped she didn’t see any evidence that he had been crying.
Rhea sat on hid bed and Roger raised up. “Hi, Rhea..” He whispered, and she frowned. “What’s wrong?” “Nothing.”
“Nothing? You’ve been crying.” Rhea became concerned and grabbed his face. He closed his eyes and shook his head. “Nothing’s wrong.”
Rhea let him go and pouted, “That’s not fair.” She mumbled. “F-Fine.” Roger looked away.
Rhea smiled and pulled Roger in a hug before pulling him down to lay with her. “Now, tell me, Roger. Who made you cry?”
“Some guys at school..” Roger mumbled, and Rhea frowned as she ran her hand through his hair. She waited patiently for her little brother to continue.
"They teased me for being smarter than them.." "Well, you are smarter than them, aren't you?" Rhea whispered and Roger slowly nodded.
"Then you have nothing to worry about." Rhea kissed his forehead, "What, did they called you, a nerd?" Rhea asked and Roger nodded again.
"Well, it's too bad..you're better than them and they're jelly of that big brain of yours." Rhea said, making Roger giggle and she smiled.
