Example
Animal- Horse
Breed- Akhal-Teke
Name- Hawkheart (Aka: Hawk)
Gender- Stallion
Features- Dark brown coat with a few light brown dapples on the underside of his stomach. Ever seeing Hazel eyes, and a long, black mane and tail. He has one white sock on his left front leg.
Background story- Hawk was bought from his birth farm at a young, an almost too young, age, to be used as a dressage horse for a young child wishing to get a start in show business.
For the first two years he was trained by the young child into a good strong dressage stallion. Then the first show came and he could feel the nervousness of the child. He bucked in the first twenty seconds, throwing the child onto the ground, hard. Bones cracked and then after the initial shock, the yelling and screaming started.
People started streaming into the arena, including the desperate mother. The mother started weeping as her child didn't move. The medics declared she was alive, but barley.
Someone grabbed his reins and someone else picked up the child and carried her out of the arena. He could hear sirens wailing in the distance.
The mother was the last to leave the arena, besides the person holding his reins. She was looking at the spot where her daughter had fallen. Moments passed then she looked up. Hawk could see the angry flames in her eyes. She picked up the riding crop her daughter had been using and walked over to him. She raised the crop and hit him with all the force in her body, on his neck.
Hawk reared and winnied in pain. He ripped the reins from the person's hands and took off running for the entrance, his head held high in panic.
Chapter 1
Hawk raised his head weakly as he heard leaves crunch behind him. His sight was blurry and dark from looking at the sun. He had been running until he collapsed in a pile of thorns and bushes. His reins had gotten caught on a low hanging branch for the rising of the sun, preventing him from lowering his head, and he had just managed to rip them away.
The crunching of the leaves formed into footsteps and he tried to rise. It was the mother coming back for him! But he only fell back to the ground.
"Whoa boy" said a voice from behind him. "You clearly have had a rough time."
The voice was calm and soft. It was not the screaming of the crowds. The wailing of the mother, nor the crows quiet chirping as they waited for a feast of horse flesh. It was the voice of someone caring and knowing of horses.
The blurry light formed into an image and he saw a young woman standing before him. She was dressed in tan riding pants and an orange polo shirt, holding a rope in her hands. A dreaded rope!
The woman stepped closer, holding out her hand which came into focus holding a large, red apple.
Hawk let his head drift towards the apple but he couldn't reach it. The girl stepped closer and he was able to reach the apple. He stretched his neck, wincing at the pain and drew back. No apple was worth this pain.
The human nodded her head in understanding. She tossed it to him, where he didn't have to stretch for it. Then as he was distracted, she took three quick steps over to him and slipped the rope over his head and tied it to the tree beside her, so his head could rest but he couldn't get away. Then she reached into her pocket and pulled out her phone. She dialed a number quickly then started speaking.
"Yes. Hello... I need a trailer out on Deerthrift road in the next twenty minutes... I found that horse they have been searching for... yes. The dark bay who killed the girl on monday... yes, I got word that she passed on in the hospital the next night... due to internal bleeding... we can't put all the blame on the horse... can I just get a trailer please? If we don't do something this horse could be the next one heading to the next world... Thank you."
The girl put the phone back in her pocket and started running her hands lightly down the horse’s sides. She wanted a look at the legs but those were folded under him. He definitely wasn't in the best health.
Hawk looked up at the human, finishing his apple. It had tasted delicious and he wanted another, but he could tell he wasn't going to get another one.
It was thirty more minutes before a trailer arrived and two males jumped out of it. They walked towards the woman and the horse.
"Mart sent us. What do you need?"
"I need to get this horse into the trailer. I have no idea if he can stand up though, much less walk."
The males nodded in sync and started to push up on Hawks side. He neighed in surprise, trying to stand. With the help of the men he did.
They then got him easily into the trailer. He had been trailer trained four years ago. As soon as they let go of him, he wobbled and fell to the clean, hay covered floor and winnied in pain. He fell asleep and the trailer started to move. Bringing him to a new home.
(I am planning to start adding onto this and making it into a book if anyone wants to find out more about Hawk and his story.)
