Mountains in the Fall

Orange, Yellow, and Red, leaves swirl all around,

As the car passes through the mountains,

A shaded spot opens to rows and rows,

Of uneven beauty,

A freezing river curls through the trees,

Carrying leaves downstream,

To where they will wait for summer,

A deer and her fawn stand still,

By the side of the winding road,

Like statues they watch a metal creature creep by,

Far above a cold sky sentinels,

A pale sun reigns,

Birds fly south once again,

To warmer places like everyone should,

But not me,

I enjoy the glowing red, orange, and yellow forests,

The cold sun and sky,

The family of deer,

And most of all,

A cup of Apple Cider.
