Ottava Rima
How do you write it? An Ottava Rima is a poem composed of eight lines that have an ababababcc rhyme scheme for the first stanza, and dededeff for the next, the rhyme scheme keeps going down the alphabet until you can no longer rhyme. Each line should contain either 10 or 11 syllables. You can make a single octive (eight line stanza) or multiple, it's up to you. In these eight lines attempt to make a coherent story, it can be fiction or non-fiction. If you do not understand how to create it from my description try checking out the rules on this website: http://www.shadowpoetry.com/resources/wip/ottavarima.html I will post an example for reference.
He is broken, busted, lying in pieces
Not even resembling the man he was
Threw it all away, gave in to caprices
Allowed his life to halt, coming to a pause
As time and meaning for him just ceases
He pulls away from his love, he withdraws
He says ‘Goodbye, I’m leaving you with our girl’
‘She’ll someday be like you, pretty as a pearl’
His lover cries, forlorn and forsaken
‘Where have I missed it; I thought I did so well?’
‘Now he leaves us; with him I was mistaken’
‘So soon he left, like the tolling of a bell’
‘Not letting this beat me, I’ll stand unshaken’
‘Act as one under an amnesia spell’
‘I will not mourn, nor remember his deed’
’Just work hard, so that we will in life succeed
