“NAWAKWA”

I come from Nawakwa :

in the middle of the forest

Back before it was shucked

by my ancestors

My taiga was raized

by some timberman

Who shared my name

in the middle of the trees

As hatchets swung and turned

bygones into plains made

For good grazing and corn mazes

in the middle of the woods

I wish would return one day
