Clearwater, FL—Retired journalist Jim Lamb, who worked for The Tampa Tribune as a reporter and copy desk editor, will be contributing a segment called “Literary Gems” to Patzi Gil’s popular radio program “Joy on Paper.”
“Joy on Paper” (https://radio-joyonpaper.com), which premiered March 17, 2015, is nationally syndicated. Since it launched, Patzi has interviewed more than 500 authors, 11 MWA Grand Masters, and dozens of literary agents. She calls it “a radio program for writers, and those who dream of writing—and for those who want to know the story behind the book.”
In the Tampa Bay Area, the show is broadcast twice weekly, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11 a.m., on WTAN (http://www.tantalk1340.com), which is based in Clearwater. It can also be heard online at TuneIn.
“It’s exciting for me to join the program,” Lamb said. “Nobody has a better rapport with authors than Patzi. Plus, she’s as generous with her time to new writers as she is to New York Times best-sellers.”
Lamb joins authors Rita Moreau and Davon Miller as regular contributors to “Joy on Paper.”
Moreau is the author of “Wheeler-Dealer,” the first book in her new Ghost & Camper Kooky Mystery series. She is a member of the Bay Area Professional Writer’s Group as well as Sisters in Crime—National and Florida. On Patzi’s show she does BookBuzzes about mysteries and thrillers.
Davon Miller is the author of the children’s book series “Mr. Tickety-Toc Clock.” He was born in St. Petersburg and published his first book in 2014 at age 11. Each month he does BookBuzz reviews of interest to children and parents.
“I was impressed with both his voice and his enthusiasm,” Patzi said of Miller. “I immediately knew that Davon was very special and so did my listeners. They enjoyed when he read from his books and wanted me to invite him back to hear more.”
Lamb’s “Joy on Paper” segment will be called “Literary Gems.” The first three topics are “Alliteration,” “Metaphors,” and “Hyperbole.”
The retired journalist, who worked for The Tampa Tribune as well as the Sarasota Herald-Tribune, double-majored in Mass Communications and Political Science at the University of South Florida. He is the author of “Orange Socks and Other Colorful Tales,” a collection of short stories about how he survived Vietnam and kept his sense of humor.
Since his retirement, Lamb has worked as a free-lance writer. In 2018, one of his poems appeared in “Stop the Stigma,” an anthology about mental health. Recently one of his non-fiction stories was featured in “An Infinite Mirror—Reflections on Our Parents and Ourselves.” For details, visit http://www.jslstories.com.
“I guess I’m a late-bloomer,” Lamb said. “I’ll be 75 years old next year and never expected to be this busy at this stage of my life.”
