Mr. Matthew’s (part 2)
“Come on Arial, lets hurry it along. I don’t want to get there when it’s last call. Or you know before all the single guys have been swept off their feet by all the drunk young girls there.”
“Bella, why do you insist on making your-self out to be an old woman? Don’t you know thirty is the new twenty?”
“That may be true, but those twenty year olds do know how to steal those men from us. But if we actually arrive there early for once maybe you and I won’t be going home alone tonight.”
I looked at her sweetly, “I won’t be alone.”
She threw my pillow at me. “Austin doesn’t count he is your son. And you know what I mean. When was the last time you actually had a one-night stand or even slept with a guy?”
“You know that answer.” My mood instantly soured.
“Yeah, that’s what I thought. Its’s been five years since he passed. You owe it to him to enjoy life for the both of you. And in a way Austin. You don’t want all this pent-up energy being released negatively, do you?”
I let out a breath and knew she was right. “Frank would want what is best for me. He even said as much. But its still hard, you know? I miss him so much and he was Austin’s father.”
“Girl you’ve been faithful and in mourning for years now. It’s time to think about your needs.”
“Bella it’s not that easy. You know that.”
She exhaled in defeat. “We don’t have to go. I’m sorry to pressure you. Let’s stay in and watch the Notebook.”
Her faced softened as she watched me intently. As much as that sounded appealing, I told myself today at work I would finally go out. It was my birthday weekend, my sixteen-year-old was out with his friends.
Frank and I were high school sweethearts who had a wonderful surprise at the age of twenty. Before we knew it, Austin was the center of our worlds and we could not have been happier. My husband and I worked so well together. We both found a way to work our schedules so we both could go to school. He went to be an architect and I wasn’t so ambitious. I got an associates in business management with a concentration in hospitality. I’ve worked as the General Manager for the Freemont hotel chain, the past eight years or so. I started as a concierge worker and worked my way up. Corporate actually paid for my schooling when they found out I wanted to make my career working for them. My husband worked as a state architect. Everything had been going so well. It was all the perfect life with some kinks thrown in the mix. But we always worked it out no matter how bad things got…
“Arial…sweetie you still in there?” Bella stood next to me, looked deeply into my eyes and was waving her hand so forcefully in front of my face, that when I saw it, I took a step backwards. I tripped on a pair of shoes and fell flat on the bed on my back.
“Ouch” I gasped as the wind was knocked out of me.
“Uh sweetie, your dress is up…” and she giggled. “With those bright red panties, we can’t stay in and watch a movie. They will go to waste that way!”
I blushed, knowing exactly where her mind had gone. “Fine. You win. Let’s go.”
“YES!” She jumped on the bed and straddled me. “Bitch you better get laid tonight,” and then she kissed me straight on the lips.
