A Bright Sand-Mermaid
She sat on the sand, her loose navy dress with white polka dots hearing the many complaints she had of her body. I walked up to her from the water, poking the little dot right under the center of her lip. In her life before me, she had that lip piercing, I wished I could see her like that.
I joined her in sitting, not mentioning my thoughts as I noticed my sapphire suit matched her dark dress, making me feel so proud. Even though I was about as soaked as a rain cloud, my head rested on her shoulder, collecting the shade from her hat. Assuming she felt my boredom through our touch, I wondered if she was able to sense whatever I felt.
"Let's turn you into a mermaid!"
Her sporadic response was normal for the both of us, and I gladly nodded a 'yes' to her. We made mermaids every beach trip. Once I tired of roaming the waves and fishing for those little sand fleas, I always seemed to end up on my seat in the grainy sand while her hands molded the golden sprinkles perfectly into a large tail around my legs. I wondered if mermaids had feet hidden in their tails, kind of like my sand mermaid.
My thoughts couldn't continue their chatter as my mom took off her bright sun-hat and placed it upon my head. To be decorated with such a crown, my mothers sun-hat; I had to be as bright and yellow as her soul in that very moment. Well at the very least I felt that bright, but this time, I knew as soon as my mom leaned in for a hug, she felt it.
