Time Stop
It started when I was 12 years old. I was walking to a restaurant with my parents when it happened. My mother had been speaking.
"After dinner, we could go and see that new part of the mall that was just installed. How..." She stopped. She completely stopped, as did my father. And every single person and thing around me. But I could still move, although I didn't understand how. I look around and see something. A little boy, about 3 years old was in the way of an oncoming car. I walked over to the boy and touched him. He didn't move. I picked him up and carried him to the sidewalk near my parents. Then I set him down.
"About that?" My mother finished. Everything was back to normal. I have a concussion because of a soccer game. But I didn't think I was hit THAT hard.
"Something wrong?" My dad asked.
"No my head just hurt for a second that's all."
"Perhaps we shouldn't go to the mall."
"I'm okay. I think some water would help."
"Okay."
From that moment on it kept happening. I eventually figured out why. It only happened when someone around me was needed to be saved. After a few years, I got better and better at it. I began to see how fast I could find the danger. I often wondered how I did it, but I never found out the answer. I was able to help people, and they never knew. I was able to prevent disasters just before they happened. I was content with that. The longest it took me to figure out who was in danger was 3 days. It was a construction worker who was working underground, he was about to be hit in the head with a pole, which would certainly kill him. It was 3 days, up until now.
It's been 2 YEARS. Time has been stopped for 10 years. I don't even grow any older. By this time I was 26 and had moved out of my parent's house ages ago. I suppose I should say I'm 28, but as I said, I don't age when I'm stuck in time. I don't need to eat, sleep, I don't even think I breathe. I have searched and searched for who it might be. I scoured the sewers, all the warehouses, restricted areas, I even checked the graveyard. Nothing. I sit down at the spot that I was at when time froze. Everywhere was checked, every single person here, every single animal here. Everyone. Not everyone. I came to the realization of who it was. The person in danger, whose life was threatened, was me.
