Famous last words
I find something fascinating about last words of famous people or well known to writers.
(e.g. last words of president Grover Cleveland: "I have tried so hard to do right.")
One of my favorites is: Francois Rabelais he was a poet, and has a biography written of him.
I would like six last words of famous people.... Writers, playwrights, poets, anything that tickles your fancy, but the sixth one will be your famous last words, because you have already left your writing mark on this world, this makes you famous too. Choose wisely, they are your last impressing words.
Hendrick Ibsen was a playwright who was not well for some time and his nurse came in one day and said "you seem to be feeling better this morning, and Ibsen looked at her and said, "on the contrary', and then he died, a bit morbid, but it has substance. Good luck to whoever participates.

Calling Time
Many of the best 'last words' are, inevitably, apocryphal, or the exact wording is disputed. Nevertheless, the following are ones that I rather like.
'I should never have switched from Scotch to Martinis.' (Humphrey Bogart, actor)
'The executioner is, I believe, very expert; and my neck is very slender.' (Anne Boleyn, consort of King Henry VIII)
'Bugger Bognor.' (King George V)
'This wallpaper and I are fighting a duel to the death. Either it goes or I do.' (Oscar Wilde, humorist & writer)
'The Sun is God.' (JMW Turner, painter)...Or did he mean 'Son'?
And mine...?
I can do no better than the final words/thoughts of Robert Lungfesty, the protagonist of my novella 'The Last Piece'...
'Peace at Last.'
(or is it really 'Piece at Last'?)
