eviscerated

a beautiful word for an ugly death,

spilling from my mouth like

blood from an open wound

written on the page like

entrails decorating the floor

each syllable is a promise

of violence yet to come

each syllable is a body

waiting to be found by the cops.

and it sounds really nice

when i whisper it under my breath

wondering when they will notice

my fingerprints at the crime scene.

it sounds like a victory

because every day i say it

is another day that i've evaded

capture.
