To Read

I do not simply read

I consume, devour

Every phrase with greed

Each word gives me power

In every book, I am freed

Every poem I scour

For this, I would bleed

It’s an addiction, a need

So my heart must cede

To this passion, this mead

So listen to my creed

And understand my plea

This is my love, my soul

It's all that makes me whole
