A bark in time

3 am and as usual I am sitting in our gazebo out front. It is darker than normal with two streetlights out.

I have been reading off my iPad so my eyes were not able to adjust very well to the darkness yet I knew something or someone was out there from the way my dog was looking into the deep shadows.

One bark from my Bernese Mountain Dog was enough to send whoever it was running down the street.
