Get Over Yourself
It’s no surprise that hearing the word “religion” makes most people grip their seats in disgust. To those people, I say: “Get over yourself.” To those who whine and cry about others not being in their religion, or at least not following the man-says-God-made rules, I also say: “Get over yourself.” If you aren’t religious, that’s fine. If you are, that’s also fine. Just keep it to a friendly expression of yourself. There is no need to berate others for thinking differently than you. The problem isn’t religion it’s your conflated ego jutting into lives it doesn’t belong in. We all have things about us that give us purpose so why try to shut down the beliefs of another person with anger and hostility? What will anger bring us? Destruction. Not only for the happiness of others but also for the physical world around us. Has religion not caused wars before? Why would we want to do that again? Now I may be Christian but we are called to help others and to be friends with our enemies. For those who claim a religion, you should understand your life comes from God. Have you all forgotten the Golden Rule? To do unto others as you would have others do unto you? Whether you call yourself a Christian, or any other religion, or even an atheist or agnostic; you are called to be better. We have seen so many clear examples of Love being the way to peace and yet people love drama and conflict for some bizarre, unexplainable reason. All I have to say to everyone who “hates” this topic of discussion is: “Get over yourself and treat others as if they are an extension of you,” because that’s what we are.
