Before I Hit The Sack
This will mean nothing to you all, however I am requested to tell of a random thought. So, here we go...
I am a Night Porter in a hotel.
Often at dead of night guests will request food such as sandwiches or salads, part of my duty is to provide such food upon request. I was thinking of one such occasion.....
I was at Reception using the computer when there was a knock on the Reception door. The time was 0330 a.m.
I answered the knock and was astonished to see a man stood before me, he was naked save for his underwear and he asked me for a ham and a chicken sandwich to be brought to his room, I told him I'd have his food ready in ten minutes, whereupon he thanked me and returned to his room.
Stifling a smile, I headed off to the kitchen and within minutes I had his food nicely presented and on a service tray looking all very nice.
I took the tray of food up to his room and knocked gently on his door. No answer. I waited a discreet few minutes, and knocked again, a little firmer this time but still no answer. I then took the food to Reception to see if he was waiting there....but no, there was no one there.
I called his room by telephone, but still no answer. I then returned his food to the kitchen and secured it within the fridge.
Several hours later I spotted the gentleman in question entering the restaurant for his breakfast, I waited for him to be seated at his table and approached him, to remind him of his sandwich order, which was still inside the kitchen fridge.
He looked at me like I had two heads.
Then, he apologised, smiled broadly, and told me that he was an avid sleepwalker, and that he had no recollection of ordering food at any point during his stay.
I enjoyed his sandwiches after my shift ended.
