Panic. That was his first emotion on waking. His clothes were drenched in crimson gore, and he seemed to have broken fingernails as if there had been some sort of struggle. His mind, fogged and addled with tiredness, tried to make sense of it all until, with a moment of great clarity, he remembered he was a vampire and went back to sleep.
