she lied,

but i let her do it,

preferred the allure of dishonesty

to the bitterness of truth—

her love, however false,

was the motivator

behind every good night's sleep,

every moment of rest,

every sigh of contentment,

every smile—

it was all a product of her lies,

and i preferred it to the devastation

that would come with the truth.
