Glass Cage
I can see you,
through the glass
you're right there
I put my hand to it
but I can't touch you.
we are so close
yet miles apart
so I bang on the glass
and I scream your name
and your monster laughs
we both punch the cage
pounding over and over
in hopes of it shattering
but the only thing that breaks
are our hands
and our hearts.
I come to the cage
and we fight it
give it all we got
but every time we make a dent
your captive fills it again
it is a monster
a predator
and you are it's prey,
it's victim
But I pray
that one day
we will break the cage
leave your captive
and step into the day
though we be
bloody and bruised
and I could finally reach you
but until then
you're a prisoner to a monster
they call him, depression.
