This Is Me
I've never been the girl
Who hides behind the masses
Sitting still, waiting for attention.
Nor am I the type
To sit in the wings behind a man
Silent, patient, listening for his plan.
I am the one who acts
As her mind decides
That this is who I am inside.
I am the warrior,
Searching for her sword,
Not hoping for a different protector.
I am the knight,
Valliant, brave, not weak in the slightest.
Slaying my own dragons, playing in their fire.
These wounds I have gotten
Are nothing more than a prize.
For how can I be ashamed
Of what they all symbolize.
Trials and fights for my own beliefs
Battles to protect those in need,
But above all else,
I am still me.
