A Metaphor for the Heartbreak
Our love spawned
An aborted fetus
Writhing with
Its tadpole tail
And wings burnt
Bones beneath flesh
And iridescent
Skin pink with rawness
A fallen angel
With fish eyes blind
And a brain stem detached
Lacking the roots
Her mouth opened
With gestational instinct
Failed and malnourished to --
Our murderous escape
A broken product
Of our love in utero
And in the midst of
Our unraveling souls
And our bright aura
Going black.
And it was Muted
With the disappointment
Because we should have --
Found a formula
To sustain the pain
Unrelenting at best
And Us ...
Thriving forward --
We gave up.
And we are now
Fragmented
With pieces of
Our tissue flailing
In the name of
Love:
We are abandoned
And we are dead.
