Lilly! Hey, Lilly!
— How did I get myself into this? How am I going to get out of this?
That’s what I thought, sobbing, hiding behind the door and holding my knife. I could hear the steps coming after me in the hallway.
My breath got so heavy that I almost got suffocated. I could hear my name being called. My breath got so heavy that I almost got suffocated. I could hear my name being called.
— Lilly! Hey, Lilly! Come out and play! Why are you hiding? We are your friends, Lilly. Come out. Play with us.
I heard that very close to me. Repeatedly. Over and over.
And then, a second later, everything stopped. It just stopped. I was not able to listen to the steps anymore, I couldn’t even hear my own breath. The only thing that I could hear was the beating of my heart, in a “non-rhythmical” kind of way. It started very low and then soft and then slow. And as the seconds passed, it got faster, and it got louder. Until it got so loud that I thought I would not bear it and my head was aching.
Suddenly, that very loud beating became into a loud ring. That was it. It was over. It was the end. The kids started to enter the room, screaming.
Soon after, the teacher arrived, closed the door and found me there.
— Oh, hey, Lilly! You’re there. Go to your place now, the break is over. And please, give me my ruler back.
