The generosity of a Wicked man
There’s a story of a man who was more generous than them all, yet was hated by so many. All the man ever did was give what he had to those who had less, but because of the man’s brash nature he was hated by everyone he helped.
If he saw someone who was poor he would shout, “someone as down on their luck as you clearly needs some cash and food. I can take this sorry sight that I am seeing take this and go clean yourself up.” The man while offended, would definitely take the cash and would soon be out of sight. If the man sees a sick woman coughing. When they would cross paths he would scoff at her. As if she committed a heinous crime against him. The man would then grab the women, and take her to a nearby doctor to get her treated immediately. While at the clinic he would say, “here this man will make sure you regain your health, so that you may not snivel at others like you did to me. And worry not about the bill, just be in good health, this town is dreary enough without someone spreading sickness.”
Hahahahhaa… A truly despicable man, especially if one was to ever hold a conversation with him. Lucky for the man no one ever thought of going near him and talking to him. Most wouldn’t even thank him. Not that they can be blamed, considering the mans words. And yet he still helped so many. Even while his counter parts would receive all the love and praise, despite not lifting a finger or spending a dime to help the people. Just showering them with nice words.
Well one day the man was confronted while helping another. Another rich tycoon came up to him and said he had no business talking to these people in such a way. That they were no less than him just for having less. In which the man replied, “of course these people are less than me, if they were not why would they need so much help. Less in items and riches.” “But not less in spirit the other man replied.” To which the wicked man replied, “less is less you can dress it up in any neat way you want, but $1 will never equal $100 no matter how much “spirit” it has.”
The people then rallied against the man, agreeing that they should no be talked to in such a harsh way, the man conceded for the day and went back home to cool off. The next day the people ignored him and avoided the man, and any he tried to help would harshly refuse. The man didn’t understand why they wouldn’t just allow him to help. This went on for weeks and then months. After a year the man just left the town and went to live elsewhere. He figured if they no longer need his help then all the more good and went In search of another town.
The town was ecstatic when the man left. You could see some celebrating in the streets, but as they say careful what you wish for. With the man gone a lot of shops in the town started to leave as well, after all the man was helping them in keeping up with payments and also the money he gave to the public would help the businesses flourish. Those who were sick got less care as the local doctors couldn’t just give away free treatment. And the town was quite poor to begin with and a lot of doctors were helpless with not making enough money to have proper tools and medicines. The town quickly colllapsed on itself and the kind man who helped drive away the generous wicked man left as well. When the people begged for him to stay and help, he said he did all he could and there was nothing more he can offer. Leaving them to their own devices. The people then remembered what it was like when everything was good. They were always financially challenged yet got through it. Why? The generosity of the person they thought of as wicked. The town was left with regrets with following sweet words, instead of someone who gave swift action.
See not everyone that is mean to you is your enemy. Who ever said someone had to like you or say nice things to you to be kind and helpful. Sometimes swallowing your pride and grasping the hand reaching out to you is the best option. Well maybe not after all we live in a world now where pretty words trump bold actions. Judging on actions and not words may be relic of the past now.
