Welcome to the Auction house
Let me tell you of the greatest restaurant to ever exist. It’s patrons came from far and wide, mostly billionaires and celebrities, but even they had to wait to get a seat. And the wait list was long.
The guest have started to be seated at their tables, that surround a huge stage. The lights are dimmed and strobe lights are pointed at the stage. The curtains open and there the Master of Ceremonies throws his arms open and yells, “ WELCOME TO THE AUCTION HOUSE”!! That is how the night always began at the Auction house. It seemed like something out of a fantasy, it wasn’t like the auction houses you regularly see.
There they had the freshest ingredients and you bid on everything from the tomato that goes in your sauce to the protein. And with the protein you could bid on everything from whole chicken, to whole cow. You could bid on what cuts of the animal you want, you could even bid on what style of cooking you wanted. The price would get to ridiculous heights but the auction house was worth it, As I said it had the freshest ingredients from farms across the country, but also the best raised animals,
and the best chefs the world had to offer. The auction house would only open once a month, which makes sense when you think about all the prep work it would take to prepare such an extravagant night.
Even those who worked there were the finest waiters, waitresses, prep cooks, butchers, and metre D’s, the world had to offer. And they were paid handsomely for their time.
The auction house was an all day event it started early afternoon and went late into the night, sometimes even past midnight. During the cooking of the dinner which would take a while considering that the ingredients are as raw as they can get. Some would even say they were still moving.
Different events such as charity auctions, private parties in different areas, and side shows would be going on. David Blaine was a regular performer there, food and magic go hand in hand. But there was a dark secret that the Auction house tried to hide with the bright lights. That Charles, an unlucky worker, who was the recipient of some bad luck one night.
After everyone would leave the auction was cleaned by an army of maids. Sometimes over 100 maids would come in right after all guests have left and begin cleaning. This was Charles first time being called to be a waiter at the auction house and he worked hard to be there. He took pictures of everything with his phone. When the army of maids came Charles left in a rush as he felt out of place. It was odd that so many people was needed to clean and why so quickly. But it was such an upstanding
establishment that he didn’t think too much of it. Who knows how these rich people think.
Charles was driving to the airport to catch the plane back home. When he realized he forgot his phone.
The auction house had a policy that if any belongings were left by mistake to let security know and they will bring it to you where ever you are. A great service considering their high brow guests. But Charles was only 20 min away from the venue so he figured it wouldn’t hurt to go back and grab his phone. Plus he wanted to see the Auction house one more time before leaving. After all he didn't know if he would ever get called back. So, instead of making someone come bring it to him at the airport. Charles pulls back to the auction house
and notices cars and people near the entrance. Strange he thought, but he assumed it was the maids finishing up cleaning and didn’t think too much further.
Scared of security Charles sneaked to the back door to see if his card still worked to get in and sure enough it did. He walked cautiously to the kitchen to grab his phone. After scurrying around for a little bit he found it. But it was dead, whatever, he had a charger in the car. As he turns to leave, he hears the lights turn on and the announcement, “WELCOME TO THE AUCTION HOUSE”. In disbelief because
he never heard of them doing two shows in one night before. He looks and he sees multiple people wearing masks. What is going on, he thought and he watch more intrigued. But his curiosity soon turned into horror once he saw what was going on. The animals they were auctioning were far beyond normal. In
fact they were all endangered species. Giant Pandas, Tigers, Rhinos, they were auctioning off all types of animals. Surprisingly not as many people bid on it as he thought would. But he soon learned why.
The last animal on the list to be auctioned was a human. The crowd roared when they saw the person chained up on stage. The bids starting flying in, people were bidding the economy of small cities for this person.
Terrified Charles went to leave, but he heard the back door open, it must be the workers coming in. Scared Charles tried to go the other way and that’s the last thing he remembers. Charles when he finally reopens his eyes, the words that once brought him joy and amazement now brought a horror like no other.
