My Elemental Hero Academia
I’m late I’m late! Yuma thought frantically as he hurriedly removed his casual clothes and began pulling on his costume. How long was he going to be able to keep up this charade if he couldn’t even stick to a schedule? He looked himself over in the mirror… perfect! The transformation was complete. He dashed out of his studio apartment to meet the others at the usual location.
By the time he was on the elevator to the top floor he was long out of breath. The skyscraper was close and Yuma was in pretty good shape but it didn’t mean the run there was easy. He couldn’t very well call an Uber dressed as a hero so there wasn’t much he could do about it. Exiting the elevator he worked the roof access door with practiced ease and peaked out of the door. As expected they were already here. But he could still salvage the situation he would watch listen and wait for the best time to make a dramatic entrance… NOW!!!
“I hope I didn’t miss all the fun.” Yuma said in his most practiced gravelly voice The group turned to greet him. “Orichalcum you made it!” Prisma exclaimed brightly! “Whazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz up?” Called Sparkman. “What’s up?” Yuma returned.
“Those troublesome destiny hero’s are what’s up.” Burstinatrix replied haughtily.
“Their trying to do the clock tower thing again.” Statos explained waving off his moody companion.
“Stratos, you’re here?! “ Yuma exclaimed with genuine surprise. “I thought you were b-“
“BWAH ! HA! HA!” Clayman Interrupted laying a massive and heavy hand on Yuma’s Shoulder. “YEP WE GOT A FULL CREW TONIGHT!” He Boomed. Clayman was loud and boisterous as always but Yuma saw him subtly shaking his head communicating not to bring up the sore subject.
“Idon’tknowwhytheyevenbothertrythatclocktowerissooslow!Anythingthattakesthatlongtoactivateisdoomedtofailtheyneedtogetwiththetimes!” Said Velocity picking up for Stratos. “Will you take a breath please?” Ocean voiced calmly.
“He’s right though!” injected Bladedge with gusto. “Lets just slice up there tower and bring the whole thing crashing down! Oh yeah!” He shouted slashing at the air. “We will do no such thing.” Neos said sagely. “That’s exactly what they want us to do.” Neos shook his head musing. “They really thinking there corruption is what’s best for the city? It’s sad but not all that wear masks should call themselves heroes.” Yuma shifted uncomfortably as the others nodded in agreement. “This shouldn’t be a problem so long as we go in with a plan.” Everyone quieted to hear Neos speak. He had a way of commanding attention though he himself was softly spoken. Yuma listened intently along with the other heroes.
You might wonder what an average college student is doing hanging out on rooftops in a huddle of heroes going over strategies to save the city. Well Yuma sometimes wonders the same thing and he was there for it all. A little over a year ago there was a big superhero fight and not just a typical save the world hero fight, it was one of those series ending crisis on infinite earths, end game, type events. There were evil hero’s, corrupted dark versions of know hero’s, portals being ripped open in space, people returning from different dimensions, and all kinds of crazy stuff! Yuma was suppose to be attending a comicon convention at the time. He had been so excited about showing of his original homemade costume when he got caught in the chaos. He found a place to hide expecting to be vaporized at any moment. The fight lasted for hours and Yuma all but accepted he would not make it out alive. But at the peak of the confusion a new hero appeared Rainbow Neos no one knew where he came from but his presence turned the tide of the fight and before long order was restored. At the end of the conflic he vowed he would return if the world needed him just before he faded away. That just so happened to be right next to Yuma’s hiding spot. So when a group of Elemental heroes came to investigate the vanishing of their mysterious savior they found Yuma there still in costume.
At 1st Yuma protested adamantly that he wasn’t who they thought he was. But the excitable WildHeart insisted to the others that he saw Rainbow Neos turn into the hero standing before them. At some point Yuma gave in telling them his made up hero name Orichalcum and soon he was explaining the Miracle Syncro Fusion technique he used to transform into Rainbow Neos. Since then once a month or so when someone sent up the hero signal all the heroes in the area would gather to address the emergency call. Because it took so long to gather energy for the so called miracle syncro fusion Yuma or rather Orichalcum would hang back ready to bust out Rainbow Neos if things took a turn for the worst.
“Okay that’s the plan.” Neos concluded. “Are there any objections?”
Silence
“Good then let us proceed.” Ooww!” WildHeart Howled “Can’t wait to get start!”
“Fuuusioon Haaaa!” Partners yelled in unison. And in intense flashes of elemental energy the numbers on the roof top were greatly reduced.
Yuma felt the temperature dropped drastically as a new hero stepped closer to him. “Sorry I blinked.” Yuma said addressing the new hero. “Are you Heat or Ocean?” “I am neither Heat nor Ocean.” The new hero declared. “I am the cold that freezes the hearts of the wicked and reduce evil to the lowest point. I am Elemental Hero Absolute Zero!” This was a bit they did whenever anyone fused into Absolute zero. It was a predictable and routine but they all loved it. “YEAH! GAIA’S READY TO ROOOOOOOOOCK!” Sang a thundering voice. Clayman and WildHeart had fussed. All Clayman’s Girth and durability multiplied by WildHearts strength and passion. Yuma hoped they didn’t get too excited and cause unnecessary damage like last time.. Elemental Hero Gaia was far too big to fit comfortably on the roof so they’d jumped down as they fused.
“Alright were going in.” Brave Neos declared. “This shouldn’t be a problem but if thing get ugly in there we’ll be counting on you Orichalcum.” Right. No pressure thought Yuma. Sometimes it felt like Neos could see right through him regardless of which form he took. That sometimes made it difficult to keep up the façade. The last thing he wanted to do was let his new found friends down. Yuma crossed his arms and with all the false confidence he could muster responded, “Roger that! If things get ugly I’ll be ready with the big guns.” Brave Neo nodded putting a hand on his shoulder then calling to the others” lets move!”
There was a powerful gust of wind as Great Tornado took to the sky. “Hey watch it wind bag!” Flame Wingman called chasing him into the sky. The heroes were departing one by one. “Try not to be jealous hanging out all by your lonesome.” The Shining prodded in his typical jovial fashion. “Every role is important some just SHINE brighter than others.” He chuckled at his own pun. “Even Rainbow Neos can’t outshine you.” Yuma returned playing along. That was just the type of response The Shining was after. With a final chortle he rocketed into the air after the other and leaving a bright streak in his wake.
Leaving Yuma the hero’s quickly made their way to the sinister clock tower some darted from roof to roof, others flew, and Gaia was crashing along behind them. Watching his friends go to work Yuma couldn’t help but swell with pride at the thought that he was part of such an extraordinary group. Maybe it couldn’t last. Maybe it was all just temporary but, for tonight they were his teammates and he was one of them. He was Elemental Hero Orichalcum. Yes as long as things didn’t get out of hand no one need know that he was a fake hero.
