I Am the Darkness
I am the darkness
of the night.
I am the horror
that fills you with fright.
I am the screech
which causes your soul to take flight.
Try and try
with all of my might,
To act out of goodness
and walk in the light.
Yet as I watch
the spirit flow,
I beg the darkness
not to go.
Stay with me,
at least for awhile,
And walk with me
on this treacherous mile.
I glance at the mirror,
catch myself smile.
Who knew I'd become
so cold and so vile?
But with every
option I was given,
Back to the darkness
I felt I was driven.
One day it hit me,
I feel I must say,
That the darkness was part of me
in a very deep way.
So twist and turn,
The way a river will churn,
But I am the darkness,
And the darkness...
Is me.
